A reminder that nominations for this year’s David Black Award remain open, has been issued by AHDB Pork, along with a strong comment from the organisation’s director, Mick Sloyan, concerning the importance of honour, especially in light of the challenges currently facing the industry.
“The British pig industry has been going through a period of recovery but there are challenges ahead,” said Mr Sloyan, adding that it takes exceptional people to rise to these challenges and help the industry face and overcome them.
“There are plenty of people like that in the British pig industry and the aim of the David Black Award is to recognise their contribution.”
Nominations, which close on Friday, August 28, can be made via the AHDB Pork website, after which they will be judged by an independent panel.
The award will be presented at an industry breakfast in November, held at the House of Lords.
