Grenville Welsh MBE, who was chief executive of the British Pig Association for over 30 years, has died after a prolonged period of illness.
His work on behalf of the industry is acknowledged on the National Pig Association (NPA) website, with his chairman for 10 years, producer John Godfrey, commenting: “He was a shrewd operator who worked hard with NFU behind the scenes to help bring about the merging of BPA’s commercial pig interests and the NFU pig committee to create the National Pig Association.”
Mr Welsh won the David Black Award in 1994 and was awarded the MBE for services to the pig industry in 1999.
