The Netherlands-based animal nutrition business, Nutreco, is to double its investment in R&D and innovation over the next few years while also changing the name of its global animal nutrition research division to Trouw Nutrition R&D.
Nutreco, which has an exclusive research partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture Feed Industry Centre (MAFIC) of China, said the changes will “accelerate” its animal nutrition innovation, resulting in closer contact with customers and bringing technology “faster to the market”.
“Technological advancements in animal nutrition must play a central role in improving the environmental footprint of the food industry as a whole and in feeding a growing world population,” said Trouw Nutrition R&D director, Leo den Hartog.
With production facilities in 25 countries and sales in over 90 countries, the business maintains three research centres in the Netherlands, covering feed ingredients, ruminants and pigs. There is also a poultry research centre in Spain, while the company’s Agresearch unit in Canada is claimed to be one of the largest animal R&D facilities in North America, focusing on dairy, pigs and poultry.
