A positive assessment of the Pig Industry Scholarship scheme has been issued by AHDB Pork, who say the programme is going from “strength to strength” with 51 applications this year securing a record seven scholars.
The scheme was set up in 2013 in conjunction with Harper Adams University to provide scholarship and placement opportunities for FdSc and BSc students.
“The scholarships give students a taste of the industry and a chance to build connections,” said AHDB Pork’s skills development coordinator, Samantha Bowsher (pictured above).
“It’s great to see two of our scholars rejoining their sponsoring company as graduates next year.”
The three inaugural 2013 scholars are now back studying in their final year while a further five from 2014 are undertaking their placement this year.
