English pig producers and the allied industry are being invited to join a “first-of-its-kind” Focus Farm initiative unveiled by AHDB Pork in a move to help the industry work together to address its current challenges.
The first open meeting will be held in Lancashire on June 20, on David Goodier’s 250-sow unit, with the aim of enabling farmers, vets and industry experts to discuss challenges facing the pig industry through open discussions and tours of commercial units.
“On our own we may not have all the answers but, together, we can address some of today’s issues and work through them, pooling knowledge and experience,” said AHDB Pork technical innovation manager, Charlotte Evans (pictured above).
Although the first session will be in Lancashire, it’s hoped farmers and industry experts from all over the country will take part in the June 20 event when attendees will get the opportunity to review David Goodier’s data, benchmark and then look at solutions which can be tested and monitored on his unit.
ADHB Pork added that all who wish to attend must register before Tuesday June 14, either by emailing kt.pork (at) ahdb.org.uk or by calling 02476 478792.
