Pig exporters and traders were “very satisfied” with the level of business achieved during SIAL Paris last week, according AHDB Pork’s latest export bulletin.
Trade visitor activity on the AHDB’s meat pavilion at the big international food fair was at its best on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with the bulletin report highlighting the fact that “Asian visitors were aplenty”.
There was, of course, plenty of exhibitor competition at SIAL with all the major European pork processors being represented. This included a “large presence from Spain and new exhibitors from Russia and Portugal”. Brazilian, US and Canadian exporters also ran major pork-focused trade stands.
“Although SIAL meat may not be as large as Anuga, it remains firmly the major world food fair on alternative years,” said AHDB Pork, who also hosted a British Meat Dinner on the Monday of SIAL which was addressed by Secretary of State Andrea Leadsom. She also visited the AHDB stand on Tuesday, staying for lunch and discussions with key exporters.
