BBC Farming Today’s week-long look at the British pig industry turned to the industry’s future export potential this morning, based on an interview with AHDB’s head of meat exports, Jean-Pierre Garnier.
Asked how he viewed the country’s overseas trade prospects once the UK has left the EU, Mr Garnier said there would be pluses and minuses to the new structure, adding that the big challenge, and opportunity, for the industry would be to remain “nimble” in its approach to doing business outside the EU system.
Mr Garnier (pictured above) also said that he believed prospects were “very good” for the next 4-5 years.
