An extended focus on Leeds University’s Pig Research Farm formed the concluding part of BBC Farming Today’s week-long look at the British pig industry.
Having already given Farming Today a brief interview, which was broadcast on Tuesday last week, the University’s farm director, Professor Helen Miller, revealed more details of the unit’s research objectives for Saturday morning’s This Week programme.
The Saturday version also included second visits to Sue Fildes’ Dittisham Farm, near Dartmouth, Devon, where she keeps her favoured Berkshires, and to a pig farm near Dundee, where stock were being loaded for dispatch to the recently opened Brechin abattoir.
