Specially Selected Pork (SSP) will complete against beef and lamb for the title of “Scotch Brand Product of the Year” during the 2017 round of the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.
A new award category, featuring SSP in competition with Scotch Beef PGI and Scotch Lamb PGI is being supported by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) during what has become an important event for the Scottish food industry.
“The new award will be judged primarily on taste, something that Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and SSP are renowned for, along with world-leading levels of traceability, assurance and welfare standards,” said QMS Chief Executive, Uel Morton.
“There are a large number of small, medium and large food producers across the country who are retailing exceptional Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and SSP products and I would encourage them to enter the Scotch Brand Product of the Year Award.
“Entering and winning this award will provide recognition for quality products which can result in significantly increased levels of business.”
The awards ceremony will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on May 18, 2017, attracting over 800 attendees and consisting of 21 categories, all designed to showcase the skill, innovation and dedication of Scotland’s producers.
