A major pig equipment dispersal sale on behalf of Eastern Pig Contractors is to be held at Martlesham, near Ipswich, on May 16.
“The existing pig finishing operation has had to make way for the increasing commercial and industrial potential of the site,” reports auctioneer Peter Crichton, adding that pigs have been kept at Martlesham Piggeries for two generations.
The sale includes a “useful selection” of modern pig equipment and housing, including two fully slatted, Lambert Geerken finishing houses, as well as flat deck accommodation, eight bulk bins and numerous auto-feed systems and other controlled environment equipment.
In addition to the pig housing and fixtures, the sale includes seven tractors and loaders with two JCB Fastracs, a JCB Farm Special Telehandler, JCB 3X digger and Weidemann articulated loader.
“This is the only indoor pig equipment sale we currently have planned for 2015,” said Mr Crichton, “although a provisional date has been booked on October 24 for a large, 1,000 sow outdoor pig dispersal auction in Suffolk.”
Catalogues will be available for downloading approximately two weeks before the Martlesham sale date
