AHDB Pork levy payers are being urged to mark April 24 in their diaries as the date of the next Focus Farm meeting.
Key performance indicators, benchmarking, breeding, the distribution of water and practical considerations to reduce pre-weaning mortality have been the target areas at the Pork Focus Farm, near Wetherby.
Focus Farm owner David Goodier (pictured) said the meeting would be used to share results from current on-farm trials.
He said: “I’d like to remind allied industry representatives who want to come, to bring a producer along with them. I’ve learned so much from the process and seen many benefits on my unit that I want to make sure we the share results with other producers. I know they will get value from coming.”
Sitting within the AHDB Farm Excellence Programme, the Focus Farm programme is intended to give producers the opportunity to witness implementation and results coming from practical trials undertaken in typical pig rearing environments.
Producers and allied industry representatives are being invited to attend what will be the third Focus Farm open meeting at a new location, the Bridge Hotel, Wetherby, from 6pm on Monday, April 24.
AHDB Pork stressed that any levy payer can join the meeting, and previous meeting attendance is not essential. The team is keen to hear new ideas and learn from the industry to make this project a true knowledge sharing initiative which can benefit the entire sector.
