Russia’s state veterinary service, Rosselkhoznadzor, has objected to the way Belarus has handled African Swine Fever (ASF) and how both the EU and Ukraine are dealing with PEDv.
On ASF, Rosselkhoznadzor has claimed that Belarus has failed to report more than a hundred disease cases, adding that such action is potentially damaging to the control of ASF in the region and in neighbouring EU member states.
On PEDv, Rosselkhoznadzor has reacted to recent reports of the disease in Ukraine by urging its counterparts in the country to carry out investigations into the current spread of the disease.
In addition, the Russian body has re-issued its statement attacking the EU over its “inadequate” handling of ASF, saying that biosecurity requirements have been repeatedly ignored in the interests of maintaining European trade.
“The questions remain open,” said Rosselkhoznadzor in its latest statement.
