Feed specialist, Jane Biss, is one of two new processor appointments to the board of the Home Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA).
Currently managing feed procurement for the Bernard Mathews group, Ms Biss also chairs the group’s internal risk management activities, which includes looking at forward buying policies.
Having previously worked for Dalgety Agriculture, selling fertilisers, seed and agrochemicals, while also buying grains and oilseeds, her HGCA board appointment is for a three-year term.
Also joining the board is Howard Leland, who is currently a main board member of Allied Mills based at Tilbury, where he is Procurement Director. He has extensive experience of the grain trade having previously been on the Board of Mardorf Peach and Co. He is also the immediate past chairman of the nabim wheat committee, which is run by the National Association of British and Irish Millers.
