Copa-Cogeca has today told European Farm Commissioner, Phil Hogan, they “regret” that no aid has been given, so far, for the EU pigmeat sector in relation to the impact of the Russian ban.
The comment emerged from a meeting in Brussels this morning in which the Commissioner said he had not “ruled out” the delivery of further EU aid in response to the Russian issue. He then went on, however, to talk about aid being given especially to apple producers in Poland, alongside Baltic and Finnish dairy farmers.
While accepting the overall value of such a comment, Copa-Cogeca took the opportunity to add a “call for action” on pigmeat as well, voicing their regret that nothing have so far happened to help Europe’s pig producers in relation to the Russian ban.Â
