BPEX have appointed a field trials co-ordinator, Dr Peter Dunne, to head a new programme of up to 12 trials a year, covering all areas of pig production.
“Many of the trials will be focused on helping producers close the gap between ourselves and our main European competitors,” said BPEX technical innovation manager, Charlotte West, adding that Dr Dunne’s appointment would help to ensure the planned programme would deliver “robust results” which would be of great value to the industry.
Joining BPEX from a lecturer post at the University of Ireland in Dublin, Dr Dunne (pictured) will run the “dozen or so” field trials on a day-to-day basis, being responsible for choosing suitable locations and facilities.
The focus for each trial will be set according to input from BPEX’s regional forums and the technical sub-group.
