A new cereals and oilseeds market information service has been launched by AHDB/HGCA to help producers keep up to date with “ever-changing market movements”.
Unveiled during HGCA’s annual grain market outlook conference, the new service features a Grain Market Daily (GMD) which will be published online from Tuesday to Friday each week at 12.30pm.
The web-based GMD features two main sections. The first is a mini-analysis focused on the most relevant news of the day, while the second is specific to prices, providing an update on market conditions related back to the UK market.
“The 2014/15 season to date has been characterised by mainly bearish market forces and, as such, downward price movements,” said AHDB/HGCA analyst, Brenda Mullan (pictured), writing in the first GMD.Â
“UK feed wheat futures prices have been on a declining trend since earlier this year, moving to levels not seen on the November contract for five years, despite prices starting off the planting stage at levels which were in line with recent years.
“Keep an eye out in this section for our interpretation of the daily price movements across the key global cereals and oilseeds contracts and how these are likely to impact on the UK market.”
