The National Pig Awards is designed to promote and reward excellence throughout the entirety of our industry. Therefore it’s only right we have an award for the suppliers that contribute so much to the sector. Unlike any other award within the scheme, this award will be voted for by you – the readers of Pig World
It’s the opinion of the organisers of the awards that one of the fundamental aspects of being an award-worthy supplier to the industry is support of the NPA. Therefore this supplier award is called the NPA AIG Member of the Year award. The NPA has provided a shortlist of suppliers and it’s now over to you – the readers of Pig World, to choose a winner. Bishopton Vet Group
Bishopton Vet Group should be celebrated for its truly collaborative approach with the pig industry. A large and diverse vet practice with a specialist pig team boasting the talents of Nigel Woolfenden, Duncan Berkshire, Richard Evans and most recently Liz van Hee, Bishopton is expert in delivering valued advice, support and on-farm training in particular.
Peter Crichton
Peter Crichton provides a superb service for pig farmers, and often at times when the farmer is in distress – selling up or changing business. During these times Peter has helped several families and businesses to get to the next stage. He is a strong supporter of the industry and a great communicator providing important weekly information. Sometimes the industry takes him for granted – it’s assumed that Peter can sort anything – usually he does, and always fairly to all parties.
Easton College
Easton College provides an excellent education facility at its two sites in Norfolk and Suffolk. It’s committed to increasing the numbers entering the pig industry and has entered into relationships with commercial partners to give students supply chain walks – farm to abattoir and processing factory. The commercial partners are also given the opportunity to present to the students. Working with EDGE, the college is placing large numbers of apprentices into the industry and it also widely promotes agriculture to school children and at various shows. It’s committed to assisting the pig industry to progress.
GE Baker/Quality Equipment (QE)
QE provides a huge range of quality products and services, and over the years has been instrumental in the construction of many new buildings in East Anglia and beyond. The service provided is very professional and extremely knowledgeable. The business is very innovative and client focused.
John Harvey Engineering
John Harvey is one of the most creative and dynamic suppliers in our sector – always looking to improve his products with research, creativity and a strong understanding of the pigs’ and stockpeople’s needs. John has helped to pioneer many of the innovations in the equipment of the outdoor sector. His products are always built with quality and care, and his reputation for excellent customer service is fully deserved. John is also a big supporter of the industry and cares passionately for all involved in the sector.
George Vet Group
The George Vet Group, formerly led by Pete Bown and now by Fran Baird, delivers a first-class vet service for its clients with a large team of committed professionals. The conveyor belt of talent at George is impressive, which is testament to its commitment to the industry, which will continue to benefit from this for a long time to come.
TVC
TVC provides a highly professional and varied service to its customers. It’s a well-established company full of passionate and experienced individuals led by Phil Woodall. It has the very challenging and important role of representing pig producers interests while negotiating with retailers and processors alike – a role it fulfils with distinction. Always happy to support its customers however it can, TVC is always just a phone call away.
Farmex
Farmex is part of the very fabric of the pig industry. Hugh and his late business partner Nick have been instrumental in developing and tirelessly promoting the benefits of data recording, monitoring and interrogation and most recently, precision technology.
