German pig equipment manufacturer WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp has introduced the Easy Feeder, a mobile solution for the liquid feeding of piglets in the farrowing house.
The unit can run for five hours of continuous use on its on-board battery, which allows manual feeding to be carried out in an easy and labour-saving way. An intelligent electronic charger is integrated into the Easy Feeder to top-up the battery from the mains supply.
The feeder has a 125-litre feeding container that’s designed to prepare and hold between 10 and 100 litres of piglet feed. Unlike similar products on the market, the WEDA Easy Feeder has an agitator built into the feeding container that means the ingredients remain well mixed.
The unit’s agitator and pump are controlled separately, so that once mixing is complete, the agitator can be switched off to save energy while the pump is used to ditribute the feed.
During feed distribution, nothing is wasted as the amounts of liquid feed can be accurately applied by means of a feed lance. The valve at the end of the lance opens when its tip is pressed into the trough.
The Easy Feeder has a low centre of gravity for stability, and its handle can be adjusted to two different levels to suit the operator. At just 1,100mm tall, the unit can be cleaned quickly and easily.
