The first GB APP, BPEX’s new Average Pigs Price, was published late on Wednesday afternoon after the figure was calculated and double-checked.
The figure appeared in a new section on the BPEX website at www.bpex.org.uk/prices-facts-figures/pricing/AllPigPrice.aspx, and was also released via Twitter.
BPEX’s Stephen Howarth took to social media to announce the figure was 164.94p/kg for the week ended April 5. That compared to the DAPP figure that week of 163.07p/kg.
He also revealed that the figures was based on a sample of 69,305 pigs, which he said was higher than the recent DAPP sample.
However, it’s still well below the 160,000 or so clean kill figures of recent weeks.
BPEX’s new Standard Pigs Price wasn’t piublished this week. It’s understood that data for this measure will be supplied by processors, but that negotiations on securing the information have not yet been concluded.
