Karro Food Group has announced plans to expand its Aberdeenshire pig-farming operation.
The unit at Brydock, Aberdeenshire, which employs 100 staff, plans to ramp up capacity from 8,500 sows to 10,500 sows in a £2 million investment. Output from the unit will increase from 3,500 to 4,500 pigs/week.
Karro’s chief executive, Seamus Carr, joined Vion from Aberdeenshire-based Grampian Country Foods in 2008, shortly before it was acquired by the Dutch company. He went to to lead the management buyout that created Karro earlier this year.
