The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has invited farmers to join one of our online introductory sessions about the Landscape Recovery pilot.
The sessions will be a chance to learn more about the upcoming pilot, ask questions and share ideas for its development.
Landscape Recovery is one of three new environmental land management schemes, as well as the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Local Nature Recovery. Through the scheme, Defra aim to put in place bespoke agreements to deliver long-term, large-scale, landscape and ecosystem recovery projects. They will be inviting bids from potential pilot projects in the autumn.
Defra is aiming to launch at least 10 pilot projects between 2022 and 2024, to deliver over 20,000 hectares of wildlife-rich habitat. We aim to invite bids for the first wave of pilot projects in the autumn.
Defra has planned to open applications to sites between 500 to 5,000 connected hectares. The department has advised farmer to read the Landscape Recovery blog post to find out if the scheme is right for them, before signing up to a session.
The sessions will take place on:
All sessions will be the same, so farmers are advised to attend whichever one is most convenient. Defra will be recording the sessions, so those unable to attend will be able to catch up later.
Defra also noted that tthere are other schemes for which farmers might be eligible, more details of which can be found here: How Farming is Changing.
