Karro Food Limited has welcomed Matthew Archer to its on-site team after he won Humberside Engineering Training Association’s (HETA) apprentice of the year award.
Mr Archer started at Karro’s Malton site in August after being presented with the award from HETA, a company which provides specialist training for people who are looking to become an engineer through the apprenticeship route. He was chosen as the winner and was praised for his enthusiasm and determination. The 17 year-old has spent the past 12 months at HETA and after having completed his first year, he is starting the next phase of his training by moving on site to complete the apprenticeship at Karro.
Commenting on his win, Mr Archer said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to have won the apprentice of the year award. It was an honour to win apprentice of the month, so to win this too is just fantastic! I’ve learnt a lot during my first year at HETA and now I’m looking forward to getting on site at Karro and progressing further.”

He’s already proved what an asset he is going to be to our team, and we’re excited to continue to help him develop.
“Our apprenticeship programme is something we’re very proud of here at Karro. We believe the scheme offers young people a way to achieve industry recognised certification whilst also being able to work full time and earn a great income.”
The apprenticeship scheme is open to people of all ages, with Karro particularly interested in hearing from school leavers and younger people.
