The Pig Industry Welfare Training demonstrates to consumers the industry’s dedication to livestock care and welfare.
August 31, 2022, or until 8,000 people register, is the deadline for Red Tractor members to complete their online welfare training without having to pay the usual £10 fee.
The Welfare Training launched in March of this year, having been developed by AHDB in collaboration with Red Tractor, the NPA, the Pig Veterinary Society, the Pig Health and Welfare Council, and pig producers.
It is both a refresher tool for those more experienced with handling pigs and is also a great way to up-skill new entrants.
When the training launched, Red Tractor’s Pig Scheme chair, Stewart Houston, said: “We fully understand that the pig sector faces a difficult time, and this training is a vital part of giving shoppers the confidence to buy British pork.”
The moving and handling module takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete, however, you can pause and save your progress as you go. When you complete the training, you will receive a digital certificate that can be saved for Red Tractor audits and uploaded to PigPro.
You can register and log in to the Welfare Training at: ahdbpork.vbms.co.uk/store.
