Emma Wormington, a pig key account manager at Zoetis, has been appointed as a new vice chair of Young NPA (YNPA).
She is replacing Flavian Obiero, who has decided to step back to concentrate on his work and other activities. At the same time, the current YNPA Chair, Samantha Carmichael, is stepping down because she is moving roles within MSD and will no longer be working in the pig sector.
Emma, who has been a very active supporter of the YNPA in recent years, grew up on a busy arable and livestock farm in Worcestershire and, after completing a degree in Bioveterinary Science, has combined her love for production animals and veterinary science with a career in animal health.
She has worked in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry for over 10 years. Alongside her role at Zoetis, she enjoys regularly spending time on her family’s pig unit, (where her twin brothers have nicknamed her ‘The Pig Whisperer’!).
She said: “I am very honoured to be taking on the role of YNPA vice chair. Having family in pig farming and through experiencing the challenges the industry has faced over the last 18 months, I am truly passionate about making the pig industry a sustainable, profitable and exciting place to be for the future.”
NPA Chief Executive, Lizzie Wilson, added: “I would like to thank Sam and Flav for all the work and enthusiasm they have put into the YNPA.
“We are always grateful to those who volunteer their time to take on these leadership roles. I am delighted Emma is stepping up to support Lee and I know there is a lot of work already underway to organise more exciting events in the second half of the year.”
Emma and Lee will remain in post until the next YNPA leadership application process begins after the Pig Industry Group elections in spring next year.
YNPA is open to NPA members or employees of NPA members who are under 40.
