Cranswick has donated £5,000 towards Ladies in Pigs’ (LIPs) educational programme, which will ensure that 2,000 more children can participate in it.
The donation followed a plea to the industry by LIPs chairwoman Debbie Wilson, who warned that, despite ongoing support from AHDB, the organisation was facing an uncertain future without additional financial backing.
LIPs has enjoyed a long association with Cranswick, which has provided it with products for promotions and collaborated on educational days.
Debbie welcomed Cranswick’s donation. “What an amazingly generous donation to our work with children across the UK. This will allow us to reach more children and young adults and show the amazing work we do together from farmers to processors in getting the British produce tasted and talked about,” she said.
Last year, LIPs reached over 10,000 children and young adults in schools and colleges across the UK. It supports schools from primary aged to college age and cover food provenance, cookery skills, careers fairs and mock interviews amongst other things.
Supporting LIPs
- £50 will pay for the ingredients for a school day for up to 120 children
- £250 will pay for a show day
- £500 will pay insurance for the kitchen for the year.
