We’re recruiting for a Senior Pig Stockperson for a farm in North Yorkshire, HG5.
Our client seeks to employ a dry sow Senior Pig Stockperson for their farrow-to-finish family farm. You will join a close-knit pig and arable farm with 580 sows on straw—both straw and slatted accommodation for a fattening herd.
Key responsibilities:
- Overseeing the dry sow unit: Responsible for the dry sows’ health, welfare and productivity.
- Vaccinations: Administer vaccinations as required with good record-keeping skills.
- Telehandler operation: Safely operate a telehandler for day-to-day tasks around the unit.
- Team collaboration: Willingness to assist in other areas of the farm when necessary in line with seasonal demands.
- Weekend rotation: Willing to work 1 in 3 weekends.
Candidate specifications:
- Experience preferable, but can be trained to manage dry sow unit.
- Strong general stockmanship and animal welfare knowledge.
- Practical on-farm skills in mucking out, power washing and telehandler operation.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliable and dedicated.
The offer:
- Salary + overtime – £30,000 – £35,000, dependent on experience.
- Accommodation – Offsite 2-bed terraced property (with paved yard + shed out back) Less than 10 minutes from the farm.
