Professionally, I am deeply dedicated to the British food and farming industry, always eager to advocate for it whenever possible.
It’s hard to believe that nearly seven years have passed since I took office! I will forever remember the conclusion of my interview, when my predecessor, Sue, slid a sheet of paper before me filled with bullet points that many of you may have contributed to as to the future of LIPs.
In all my interview experiences, I had never encountered a scenario where my presentation aligned so perfectly with the job goals. It felt like fate had united me with LIPs.
Throughout my tenure, we have stayed true to our mission; placing education at the heart of our work. I firmly believe that ‘every day is a school day’, meaning education extends beyond traditional schools and younger audiences.
Recently, I spoke to a group of business owners, many of whom were well past their school days, and several of them – including men and women, expressed how much they learned from our discussion about the British food and farming industry.
While I don’t claim to be an expert in every facet of the industry, I am eager to learn, if it helps us make an even greater impact – so any advice or information will be gratefully received.
I’m sharing this message because, despite the ongoing support from AHDB, which we are eternally grateful for, we are facing an uncertain future without additional financial backing. Here are just some of the ways your contributions will help.
- £50 will pay for the ingredients for a school day for up to 120 children
- £250 will pay for a show day
- £500 will pay our insurance for the kitchen for the year
Last year we reached over 10,000 children and young adults in schools and colleges across the UK. As a proud Yorkshire woman, I always strive to maximize every penny spent, but we genuinely need extra assistance to continue our vital work.
Here are just a few comments we’ve received:
- “Staff were incredibly knowledgeable and considerate of our pupils’ needs. They tailored the activities to the appropriate level and age group.”
- “What an amazing cooking experience! We all learned so much!”
- “Wow! We had a wonderfully organized visit from Ladies in Pigs today!”
