British pork exporters will join AHDB at one of China’s largest trade shows next month.
Five pork exporters will showcase high quality British produce at Food and Hospitality (FHC) China in Shanghai from November 8-10, joining AHDB’s red meat export team in the Meat Hall on the AHDB-hosted British Meat Pavilion. It will provide a platform for pork exporters to meet existing customers and potential new ones from the key Chinese market.
Lucy Randolph, AHDB senior exports manager, said: “FHC will be the first time the AHDB Dairy Export team has been back to China in person post-pandemic and we are excited to be taking part with our exporters.
“China and other markets in the wider Asia region present significant opportunities for dairy exports. Consumers in China have a high regard for food safety and quality and the UK is well-placed to satisfy that demand. Our strong presence at the show will help play an important role in developing further export opportunities for the companies joining us.”
Jonathan Eckley, AHDB head of international trade development, said: “We are delighted to be back at FHC China. Despite current challenges on the global pig meat market, China remains a key market for the UK pig meat sector with carcase balance playing an ever more significant role. This was reflected in a 16% increase in volume of fifth quarter exports in the first half of 2023. FHC will provide us and our exporters with the platform to build on existing commercial relationships and develop new ones in this important market for the pig meat sector.”
