AHDB pork’s technical team has announced the appointment of Tony Bayles as a Knowlege Exchange Relationship Manager.
His role will see him provide a link between pork producers in the North and Northwest of England, industry partners and AHDB by coordinating knowledge exchange activity and facilitating face-to-face events.
Mr Bayles has worked within the pork farming industry for 15 years in pig farm management, as well as working as a livestock manager for BOCM Pauls, a large feed manufacturer, where he was responsible for a herd of 4,000 sows. He also brings his experience from working in commercial sales with large compound feed manufacturers and previously worked as a contract breeder on his own farm.
Jen Waters, AHDB’s Head of Pork Knowledge Exchange, said: “I am delighted that Tony has joined our team. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, and I know he is really going to hit the ground running in the North where he has a wide network of contacts.
“Tony has joined us at a key moment when levy payers are being asked to have their say on the work AHDB do for the industry. Tony will be delivering a range of events and activities to support levy payers in these challenging times and offer support where it’s needed.
Mr Bayles, who began his role with AHDB on 4 January, commented: “I’m excited to be joining the pork team at AHDB and I am looking forward to meeting, working and engaging with levy payers. It’s a critical time for the industry and I hope to be able to offer support to as many of our levy payers as I can.”
