AHDB’s export team will be attending the ANTAD & Alimentaria event in Guadalajara, Mexico, May 17-19, to promote UK pig meat exporters in the Mexican market, writes Meghan Taylor.
Access to the Mexican market is estimated to be worth £50 million to UK pork producers, during the first five years of trade, and this event will be AHDB’s first time attending since UK access to the Mexican market was secured in September 2021.
This event is therefore an opportunity for AHDB to showcase the quality, high welfare standards, traceability and nutritional values of British pork, to the Mexican food industry supply chain and retail, hotel and restaurant sector.
Susana Morris, the AHDB senior exports manager for the Americas, said: “Gaining access to the Mexican market for high-quality and high-welfare produce in September was another significant milestone for the UK’s agri-food export ambitions.”
“ANTAD & Alimentaria provides the perfect platform for us to ensure our domestically-produced pig meat is front and centre in this important market, and for our levy payers to capitalise on the opportunities it presents.”
