Pig production company Allen Farming Group (AFFG) has teams up with Roadhogs Recruitment Ltd to create an on-the-job training scheme for entry-level stockperson positions for people of all ages looking to enter the Pig Industry.
The on-the-job training scheme is a result of Roadhogs Recruitment’s and AFFG’s wish to help invest in the future of the UK Pig Industry and will run for a year across AFFG sites in indoor units in Dorset and outdoor units in West Sussex.
Over the course of a year, chosen candidates will work across all sections of the AFFG Pig Business, which covers most types of pig production. The organisers said the aim of the initiative is for entry-level pig stockperson to gain valuable pig experience to take forward into careers with future pig farms.
A skills matrix has been developed for each section across the units. AFFG will manage this in conjunction with Pig Pro, the training and development web-based tool designed by AHDB for the pig industry.
This scheme is a fully paid placement with accommodation provided where required. It will be managed by Roadhogs, with the opportunity of employment within the AFFG once the course has successfully been completed. Organisers said entry-level applicants of all ages will be considered.
