Restrictions on the abattoir and farm at the centre of two suspected cases of swine fever were lifted late on Friday afternoon.
The AHVLA made the announcement on Twitter, saying: “Tests relating to reported case of suspected swine fever proved conclusively negative.”
The abattoir involved, reported by the NPA to be Cheales at Brentwood, is understood to have been at a standstill on Friday while the tests were carried out. Normal operations will resume from Monday.Â
The Aberdeenshire farm that was the source of the two pigs also had all movement restrictions lifted.
This is the second time in the past six months that suspect cases of swine fever have been spotted by meat inspectors at abattoirs; thankfully all have proved negative.Â
