Pig farmers are being encouraged to talk to their veterinary surgeons about making use of two free tests relating to swine influenza and oedema disease, with the added motivation of the chance to win a copy of the veterinary reference book “Managing Pig Health”.
The encouragement and offer comes from the animal health company, Hysolv, which is running a free prize draw for five copies of the veterinary book, while also seeking to raise awareness of two tests for swine influenza and oedema disease, which it is co-sponsoring with IDT Biologika.
“These diseases cost pig farmers many thousands of pounds but the cause of herd health problems is not always obvious,” said Hysolv director, Richard Brealey.
“We are therefore encouraging producers to talk to their veterinary surgeons about using these very sophisticated tests to accurately identify the cause as fully understanding these diseases is a first step to control and prevention.”
“Managing Pig Health” was written by eminent veterinarians, Dr Mike Muirhead and Dr Tom Alexander, and has been revised and up-dated by Dr John Carr. Producers simply have to provide contact details by visiting www.hysolv.com to enter the draw before July 31.
