Cargill UK has announced that its calming product, BehavePro, is now available in both a liquid and powder form – for applications in all pig production systems.
Previously only available as a liquid, BehavePro is made from a combination of active botanical ingredients that can help to reduce stress and anxiety in pigs, improve performance, and promote better animal welfare. It can be used in all diets, for sows, piglets, growers and finishers.
As a liquid, it can be added to clean drinking water, as a powder, BehavePro can now be included in feed – with effects generally seen within 48 hours.
“BehavePro has gained a great deal of traction with producers and vets in 2022,” said Cargill pig specialist Jason Evans. “Producers consistently report improvements in fertility and farrowing rates in sows, reduced mortality in piglets, and less aggression-related issues, such as tail-biting, in growing and finisher pigs.”
Trial results from a 600-sow indoor unit has shown that sow mortality reduced by 50%, when BehavePro was fed at the correct dose, while farrowing rates improved by 1.5% and pre-weaning piglet mortality fell by 5%.
“[BehavePro] creates a happier environment for staff and for livestock and supports welfare, along with improved, cost-effective and sustained productivity,” concluded Mr Evans.
