In the week ending 25 July, the EU-spec SPP slipped by 0.43p on the week to average 165.18p/kg, according to a report by AHDB analyst Hannah Clarke.
The measure is, however, 12.39p above the same week last year and 18.91p above the five-year average. Industry reports suggest that weaker retail and export demand dampened prices.
In the week ending 18 July, the EU-spec APP fell 0.25p on the week to average 168.45p/kg, but this measure also above the same week last year (+13.73p) and above the five-year average (+19.66p)
Ms Clarke added: “In the week ending 25 July, 7kg weaners averaged £42.99/head, while prices for 30kg weaners averaged £60.08/head. Reports suggest supplies were slightly more abundant but demand sluggish.”
