Auctioneer Peter Crichton has two outdoor pig equipment auctions arranged for September.
The first will be held on the September 13 at Tisbury, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, and comprises the complete dispersal of outdoor equipment from a 400-sow herd due to the loss of the site.
The auction includes the usual wide range of outdoor pig equipment including 19 jumbo sow arcs, 48 conventional dry sow arcs, 100 farrowing arcs with hurdles and six Challow weaner kennels.
A useful selection of machinery includes three Peter Allen 1t Rotafeeders, a Peter Allen 2t auger feed trailer and a 16ft piglet movement trailer.
There are also three high-level side discharge bulk bins including one 9t and two 14t models.
The Tisbury auction, which is being held for Pythouse Pigs, will also include a useful range of fencing, watering and associated outdoor pig keeping equipment.
The second auction, on September 27, takes place at Crostwick, which is just north of Norwich, Norfolk. This sale arises due to the reorganisation of North Farm Livestock’s outdoor pig breeding/finishing enterprise and will include outdoor pig housing from its 800-sow herd.
More tha 120 farrowing arcs are included, together with 110 fenders, as well as 120 dry sow arcs with a range of wallows, troughs and drinkers also on offer.
The machinery section is headed by four bulk feed trailers, high tip and farrowing feed trailers, as well as three straw trailers.
Other equipment includes a 4t Peter Allen Rotafeeder, an Ifor Williams livestock trailer, a ‘P’ registered Matbro Telehandler and many other useful items of equipment.
Peter Crichton added that there may be another outdoor sale taking place before the end of this year, and that plans are also in hand for a large 1,000-sow herd outdoor pig equipment sale to take place early in the spring of 2015 near Bury St Edmunds.
