EU fresh/frozen pork exports grew by 15% year-on-year in November 2016, after appearing to have hit a stagnation point in the previous month, according to AHDB Pork.
“At almost 205,000 tonnes, volumes were 15% above year earlier levels in November,” said AHDB Pork, adding that in value terms the month’s trade was 33% up on the year at €518 million (£446m).
Asian markets played a significant role in supporting EU exports with shipments to China up 14% relative to November 2015, although this growth didn’t match the “spectacular increases” seen earlier in 2016.
“Offal exports were also 12% above November 2015, at 132,000 tonnes,” added AHDB Pork, noting that a 25% increase in Chinese shipments spearheaded this growth.
