Scotland’s food minister, Richard Lochhead, has urged the country’s consumers to support their local producers over the festive period, including Pitcaple pork, bacon and gammon as stocked by the Store Farm Shop in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
“The Scottish Government is committed to supporting the growth of local food throughout Scotland including farmers markets, farm shops and other local food initiatives,” said Mr Lochhead when he visited the Ellon shop, owned by local farmer, Andrew Booth.
“As well as using farm shops, I would encourage people to get to know their local butchers and other local suppliers to know exactly the provenance of their food.”
Alongside all its other meats, the Store supplies its customers with locally sourced Pitcaple pork, bacon and gammon.
