UK exports of fresh/frozen pork grew by 18%, year-on-year, in April, according to AHDB Pork.
China was the main growth driver, once again, with shipment levels almost doubling in comparison to April 2015.
In addition, an increase in sow slaughterings saw shipment volumes to Germany increase by almost 12% while export volumes to the United States, Philippines and Poland also recorded strong progress, albeit in smaller absolute volumes.
“The value of UK fresh/frozen pork exports also increased in April, rising by over 29% year-on-year, to reach £19.3 million,” said AHDB Pork.
Offal export levels, meanwhile, more than doubled during the month, year-on-year, to finish at 6,600 tonnes. The Asian markets were the main driver of this, with China accounting for half of all UK shipments.
