Tulip is looking to recruit an additional 145 staff at its Westerleigh production facility in Bristol, following the completion of a £16m expansion at the site.
The company said that the recent investment will enable the business to grow both its home market as well as increase its capacity to export product around the world, including the growing Chinese market.
In addition to the investment in the abattoir side of the site, a new retail production facility has been created which will enable the Westerleigh operation to produce and cure joints for the UK’s retail market.
“This is a very exciting time in the development of Westerleigh as we have invested heavily to enable it to become a world-class production facility,” said Tulip’s HR director, Kirsty Wilkins, announcing the 145-staff recruitment.
Part of the Danish Crown group, Tulip has 16 fresh and cooked meat sites across the UK, employing around 7,500 people.
