NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson has described her invitation to next week’s Downing Street Farm to Fork Summit as a ‘fantastic opportunity’ to discuss the pig sector’s challenges at a political and food chain level.
The summit will take place on Tuesday (May 16), featuring representatives from across the food and farming supply chain, including Jeremy Clarkson, who has raised the profile of farming with his popular Amazon TV series.
The event will include a meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with Ministers from across the Cabinet in attendance as the day showcases ‘great UK farming and food production’ from across the sectors and regions.
There will also be a series of discussions on ensuring all parts of the UK’s food system and government are working together to support the domestic food sector, increase its resilience and harness future opportunities.
Lizzie said: “I am really delighted to be attending this event. It will be a fantastic opportunity to raise some of the key issues we face as an industry at the very highest levels of Government, and also to discuss with key people from across food and farming how we can work together to build a more functional and sustainable supply chain.”
