A specialist UK provider of on-farm environmental assessments, designed to improve understanding concerning greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and the food chain, has been acquired by the global animal nutrition company, Alltech.
The purchase of the provider, the E-CO2Â Project Limited (E-CO2), was announced by Alltech as a development which both strengthens its agri-environment credentials and will enable it to help farmers make their operations “more efficient, profitable and sustainable”.
“Carbon and water efficiency are a growing issue within both the food chain and everyday life,” said Alltech’s president, Dr. Pearse Lyons. “The acquisition of E-CO2Â underscores Alltech’s long-term commitment to strong, sustainable global agriculture, as well as to food quality and safety for an expanding population.”
The company also said that, for more than 17 years, E-CO2Â had developed a portfolio of environmental software and services to further understand greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and the food chain.
“Alltech believes that the future of agriculture depends on solutions that are beneficial to the animal, consumer and environment,” said E-CO2Â managing director and co-founder, Peter Darlington, adding that his E-CO2 team held the same view.
“We believe passionately that reducing the environmental impact of agriculture involves simultaneously delivering value to the farmer,” he said.
Based in Crewe, E-CO2Â will now move forward as Alltech E-CO2.Â
