Morrisons is bringing back Farmer Christmas for the second year running, as part of its latest Christmas campaign.
In the supermarket’s 60-second TV ad, Farmer Christmas is seen journeying through fields on his tractor, to visit his festive workshop where a series of elves are hard at work preparing Morrisons Christmas dishes.
In the ad, a butcher passes Farmer Christmas a glazed gammon joint, which is described as a ‘big edible Christmas present’, while a Morrisons baker is shown preparing puff pastry mince pies in ‘magic’ ovens.
The aim of the campaign is to spotlight Morrisons’ own colleagues – many of whom feature in the ad – and farmers, who are the “real life elves” that produce more than half of the fresh food that the supermarket sells.
With that, the ad ends with Farmer Christmas proudly exclaims that Morrisons is the “only supermarket to be officially approved by me” because of its commitment to British farming, its food makers, and great value Christmas products. As such, the ‘Officially Approved By Farmer Christmas’ stamp will now feature across Morrisons’ paid media and in-store Christmas campaigns.
Rachel Eyre, Morrisons chief customer and marketing officer, said: “We know that customers are having to manage their budgets closely at the moment but they have told us they don’t want to compromise on the Christmas meal.
“We’ve brought Farmer Christmas back this year to show them the food and great prices that, thanks to Morrisons food-makers and farmers, will be available throughout the festive period, all stamped with his seal of approval.”
