We are pleased to announce the first speakers for 2019’s major pig industry event – Pigs Tomorrow, which takes place near Leicester on May 14 and 15
The first speakers have been announced for this year’s major pig industry event and there is a real international feel to the line-up.
We have speakers from all over the world for the International Outlook Conference on the first day of the two-day event, which will take place near Leicester in May. Speakers for Day One include:
Jurgen Preugschas: A Canadian pig, grain and cattle farmer, Mr Preugschas will bring the North American perspective at a time when, freshly departed from the EU (in theory), the UK will be eying up new trading partners. Can we do business with the likes of Canada and the US where approaches to pig production are very different to ours?
In terms of his background, Mr Preugschas originally produced breeding pigs sold in Alberta and around the world. In 1995, Mr Preugschas he became a founding member of Peak Swine Genetics Inc, of which he is still a major shareholder and director. He has experience on the board of the International Meat Secretariat.
Jack Keane: Bringing insight into the Russian pig sector’s aims and objectives and its views on the EU pig sector, also speaking at the event will be Mr Keane, who, since 2016, has been general manager of the PIC Russia business, which is primarily a key account business heavily focused on the largest producers in Russia.
Tom Hind: Closer to home and well known to many within the farming, Mr Hind, AHDB’s chief strategy officer, will have plenty to say about UK farming’s position in the brave new post-Brexit world. He brings years of insight to the conference and is not afraid to express an opinion or two.
He leads a team at AHDB of over 60 directors and experts who provide specialist sector knowledge as well as insight and evidence on markets and economics to farmers, growers and the wider industry. Previously, he has worked for Tesco and the NFU.
Pig World publisher Simon Lewis said: “We are delighted to be able to present speakers of this calibre to inform and entertain delegates at Pigs Tomorrow. We had tremendous feedback from Pigs 2022, including on the quality of the speakers. The line-up for Pigs Tomorrow will be just as good.
“This is just the start. More speakers for the International Outlook Conference and the Innovation Conference on day two will be announced in the run up to the event.
“There will be an exhibition of industry stands and plenty of networking, plus a gala dinner on the first night featuring entertainment and a high-profile guest speaker, who will be announced in the coming weeks. Register for Pig Tomorrow now.”
Confirmed exhibitors include Collinson, Farmex, Hingerose, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Rattlerow Farms, AM Warkup, Zarkos-Smith Associates and Zoetis. More exhibitors will be unveiled in the run-up to the event.
