ForFarmers has appointed Katie Stephen to the position of VIDA Piglet Feed Specialist, working with ForFarmers National Piglet Specialist, Gwyn Jones. The appointment demonstrates ForFarmers commitment and focus in piglet nutrition, after the launch of the VIDA Piglet Feed range in 2015.
Katie Stephen, who joined ForFarmers in October 2015 has a wealth of experience and knowledge in animal nutrition. Having achieved a BSc in Animal Science at Aberdeen University, she continued her nutritional studies undertaking a Masters of Philosophy at the Scottish Agriculture College where she completed her research project in the ‘Environmental impacts of dietary protein sources on pig production systems, specifically UK grown proteins’.
Upon graduating, Katie started her working career at Trouw Nutrition as GB Pig Product Manager with a focus on the technical aspects of feed additives she moved onto Anpario Plc as Technical Sales Manager for the UK, where she developed a particular interest in gut health and how the use of feed additives can successfully reduce medication usage.
In her new role as UK VIDA Piglet Feed Specialist Katie will be supporting ForFarmers account managers and producers applying VIDA products, and using her specialist technical knowledge to help support producers adopt the holistic approach to pig nutrition to ensure optimal performance, especially in the context of antibiotic reduction.

I am excited to be a part of this team of ForFarmers piglet nutrition specialists to continued supporting producers and offer advice on piglet nutrition, especially as they face the ongoing challenge of antibiotic reduction.”
