Charlie Dewhirst, the former NPA chief policy adviser, has been elected on to the cross-party Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.
Commenting on X, Charlie, who was elected as a Conservative MP for Bridlington, Driffield, Hornsea, Market Weighton and The Wolds in July, said he was ‘delighted’ to have been elected by Parliamentary colleagues onto the committee, which scrutinises Defra policy.
“Looking forward to sitting on the other side of the table and holding the Government to account,” he said.
Full membership of the committee has not yet been formally announced. Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael was elected as its chair in September.
