Kit form piggeries, sold for producers to assemble themselves, are proving increasingly popular says ARM Buildings.
“Larger producers often have their own maintenance staff who are quite capable of putting up a kit form building and this can help to keep costs down,” said ARM director, Roger Smith.
Precision-made at the company’s Rugeley, Staffordshire, factory, the kit form units are sent out complete with fixings and fittings, plumbing parts and ventilation equipment. All the apertures for fans and inlets are pre-cut and a choice of feeding equipment is offered.
“Farm staff obviously need to be competent,” said Mr Smith (pictured above), adding that those who are able to cope, can save their employer time and money while also avoiding interruptions to production by not having to join a waiting list for buildings to be put up.
