Farmex’s managing director Hugh Crabtree has been appointed to the board of the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) and has attended his first executive meeting.
Mr Crabtree is also on the board of the National Pig Association and has a particular interest in applying the principles of precision farming to the livestock industry.
He has been instrumental in developing high-tech remote monitoring systems for pig and poultry houses, and crop stores, which have attracted worldwide interest.
IAgrE, which is based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, is the professional organisation for scientists, technologists, engineers, academics, managers and students working in the land-based industries. It represents their interests to government, its agencies and other relevant organisations and has also established links with similar bodies overseas.
