Ladies in Pigs (LIPs’) will be ‘ready and raring to go’ once live events resume, its chairwoman Debbie Wilson said, after securing £100,000 of funding for this year from their main sponsor AHDB.
Rosie, LIPs’ mobile kitchen, which would normally be out and about at shows, events and schools at this time of year, is currently parked up during the COVID-19 crisis.
But, one thing that has stayed the same during these uncertain times is the support of AHDB, Mrs Wilson said.
“The ladies are pleased to announce that their main sponsor has committed £100,000 to their work for this year, which ensures that we can develop their business plan. It also guarantees that when a return to live events is safe to do, we are ready and raring tp go, with an established platform for e-learning and social media interaction in place!
“We are in an unprecedented situation and we are mindful of the ultimate sacrifice some families have had to face during these difficult times.
“We are committed to continue the support of our #keyworker farmers across the country, but we have to be creative in the ways we do it until we can return to our usual schedule. We have embraced this change to the norm.”
LIP’s education resources have become online resources for teachers, children and parents to access, while live demonstrations of the 2020 recipe book have become videos that can be viewed on all social media platforms, as well as their own YouTube channel.
“I am also working hard towards ensuring that we have a full rota of events across the country for when we are able to return,” Debbie added.
The ladies recently took part in the Hertfordshire Show Virtual show and enjoyed a prominent slot in the Live section, with a selection of their videos available for visitors to view. Events such as this embrace the different ways in which LIPs can reach people, Debbie added.
