Pig producers from across the UK are reminded that there are 25 new classes for pigs at this year’s East of England Winter Stock Festival, which closes for entries on November 3.
Taking place on a later date of Friday and Saturday, December 1 and 2, at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, the pig classes will be judged by Rodney Phillips, of RJ Phillips Wholesale Butchers.
Festival show director William Haire said Mr Phillips brings a host of experience from the meat industry and is very well placed to judge the new pig classes.
“We’re delighted to welcome him to the 2017 Winter Stock Festival. His knowledge of consumer demands and experience as a pig buyer stands him in excelled stead.”
Schedules and entry forms available to download online at www.winterstockfestival.co.uk or from the show office.
Organised by the East of England Agricultural Society, Winter Stock Festival is a premier show, featuring the very best in commercial and pedigree livestock from across the UK.
It includes classes for cattle, sheep and pigs, as well as dedicated a programme of competitions for young people in agriculture, including the final of Young Stockperson of the Year and the College Challenge.
The event, which is free for visitors to attend, also features a dedicated trade stand area and a programme of topical seminars and demonstration.
